Abraham and the Stars
Abraham y las Estrellas
Abraham and his wife Sarah had no children, and they were very old. One night, God spoke to Abraham. God said, 'Come outside and look up at the sky.' Abraham went outside. The night sky was filled with countless stars twinkling brightly. God said to Abraham, 'Count the stars if you can.' Abraham looked up and tried to count, but there were too many stars to count! Then God made an amazing promise. He said, 'Your descendants will be as numerous as the stars. I will give you a son, and your family will become a great nation.' Abraham was very old, and Sarah was too old to have children. It seemed impossible! But Abraham believed God's promise. He had faith that God would do what He said. Many years passed. Finally, when Abraham was one hundred years old and Sarah was ninety, they had a son! They named him Isaac, which means laughter, because they were so happy. Through Isaac, Abraham's family did become as numerous as the stars. Abraham's faith in God's promise teaches us to trust God even when things seem impossible.
