The Nativity
La Natividad
Long ago, an angel appeared to a young woman named Mary. The angel said, 'Don't be afraid, Mary. God has chosen you to be the mother of His Son. You will name Him Jesus, and He will be called the Son of God.' Mary was engaged to Joseph, a carpenter. When Joseph learned Mary was going to have a baby, an angel appeared to him in a dream and explained that this baby was from God. The Roman government ordered everyone to return to their hometown to be counted. Joseph and Mary had to travel from Nazareth to Bethlehem. The journey was long and Mary was about to have her baby. When they arrived in Bethlehem, the town was very crowded. There was no room for them at the inn. They had to stay in a stable where animals were kept. That night, Mary gave birth to Jesus. She wrapped Him in cloths and laid Him in a manger, a feeding box for animals. Nearby, shepherds were watching their sheep. Suddenly, an angel appeared in the sky! The angel said, 'Good news! A Savior has been born in Bethlehem!' Then many angels appeared, singing praises to God. The shepherds hurried to find baby Jesus. Far away, wise men saw a special star and followed it to find Jesus. They brought Him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Jesus, the Son of God, came to Earth as a baby to save the world.
Esa noche, María dio a luz a Jesús. Luego aparecieron muchos ángeles cantando alabanzas a Dios.
