Protestant Reformation
La Reforma Protestante
In the 1500s, a monk named Martin Luther lived in Germany. He studied the Bible carefully and noticed that some church practices were different from what the Bible taught. The church was selling indulgences - papers that promised forgiveness of sins for money. Luther believed this was wrong. He thought salvation comes through faith in Jesus, not by paying money. On October 31, 1517, Luther wrote 95 statements called theses. He nailed them to the church door in Wittenberg. His theses said that faith alone, grace alone, and Scripture alone are what matter for salvation. Many people read Luther's theses and agreed with him. The church leaders were angry and wanted Luther to take back his words. But Luther refused. He said, 'Here I stand. I can do no other.' Luther translated the Bible into German so ordinary people could read it themselves. His actions started the Protestant Reformation, which changed Christianity forever.
No puedo hacer otra cosa.'
